In reality, you do that at the jeopardy of your business.

This article will show you why you should save money and how to make smarter outsourcing decisions.

Outsourcing sounds like a good approach.

Everyone tells you to do it.

It will save you time.

But if you outsource the wrong things, you're going in the wrong direction.

Outsourcing Expensive Tasks

By having the knowledge and skills to do these tasks yourself, you have control over your business processes and finances.

This independence can give you peace of mind knowing that you're not overspending. And that all parts of your business are running smoothly and efficiently.

Finally, learning how to do certain tasks yourself is an invaluable skill that will serve you well throughout your career.

Outsourcing What You're PaId For

You can't have fear in doing the thing that other people are supposed to pay you for.

For example, I see a lot of real estate agents that will outsource their marketing, their lead follow-up their sales, and even their transaction coordination.

The question then is, “What's your job? What exactly are you doing?”

Maybe the public is right. Maybe people are right when they say “We really don't need real estate agents.”

Or, "Real estate agents are paid too much."

If you're outsourcing everything. What are you there for? 

The relationship?

That's an expensive relationship.

Don't Outsource Your Marketing: Here's Why

Don't confuse abdicating with delegating.

When it comes to marketing, don’t outsource the most important part of your business. Outsourcing by abdication means giving away control. This leaves you vulnerable. 

If you outsource your marketing, you are essentially paying someone else to build your brand. They are your voice. Are you okay with that? Can they be a better voice for you than you can?

Without hands-on experience and a feedback loop, you can't assess the strengths and weaknesses of your message. You're missing out on getting to know your ideal client and customer. 

"I can't afford that."

I've experienced many people tell me they can't afford to work with me. Even on the lowest end product because they are paying for:

  • Expensive website services

  • Ad services

  • Marketing agency

  • Lead generators

And the list goes on...

What's interesting is, for some reason, they decide that they're going to outsource the most expensive thing while still doing $10, $15, $20 an hour work.

And this is the reason why you're going to stay stuck.

And you're going to stay broke.

You're outsourcing the most expensive thing first. You're putting the cart before the horse.

Remember this word:

Sequence.

Doing The Right Things Doesn't Matter

Sequence is important in any business, but especially so when it comes to outsourcing. Doing the right things but in the wrong order can lead to disastrous results.

When it comes to outsourcing for solo business owners, sequence means starting off with small and manageable tasks that don’t require a large budget or significant investment of time.

This allows you to get familiar with the process of outsourcing before taking on bigger projects or entrusting more expensive services to an outside provider.

It's okay to add leverage.

It is 100% okay to outsource.

Just make sure you outsource and leverage the smaller things first.

Outsource Small & Inexpensive

Many solo business owners get off track  when it comes to outsourcing. Don't focus on expensive and large-scale tasks before mastering the basics. Instead of investing in costly marketing or hiring outside talent for high-level jobs, solo entrepreneurs should begin by outsourcing smaller, routine tasks.

Become Knowledgeable Of Expensive Skills

You don't need to continue to do your marketing forever.

You don't need to do the expensive tasks forever.

But when you start off by outsourcing expensive tasks to start, you minimize your profit. You never create momentum.

Your expenses are digging a hole. And you're hoping you can sell enough to get out of that hole.

That's a dangerous strategy.

Lead With Revenue

Leading with revenue should be the goal of any solo business owner's outsourcing strategy. Outsourcing can help a solo business reach its goals faster, but only if the revenue is there. 

Revenue is what enables a business to grow and thrive.

Don't spend it until you have it.

Once your business has established itself. Bringing in enough money. Then you can start considering more expensive options. Such as hiring marketing campaign experts or partnering with ad agencies.

It's Not All Or Nothing

It's not all or nothing. That's also a mistake.

Just because you're not outsourcing it doesn't mean you are in it alone.

Don't confuse Do It Yourself with Figure It Out Yourself.

Figuring it out yourself could be more costly than outsourcing it.

For example, if you figure out how to do something by yourself it can be a time-consuming process and you could miss key outcomes because of a lack of expertise.

Investing in help, ideas and direction is essential for any solo business owner.
