Your Database & Pearl The French Bulldog

I was in North Carolina this week. Working with a client and her team in office. Yes, I make "house calls."

I was a bit nervous about the trip, as I am with any trip because that means Pearl is left with my wife Katherine.

When I'm around... I feed Pearl... I take Pearl out... I take her on "W's... I play with Pearl... I play hide n seek with her... we wrestle... I gave her belly rubs, etc.

Do you have any pets?

I don't know about your pets, but Pearl demands to be fed daily, get some attention from me and some play time.

She needs food and to be nurtured.

I probably could experiment with the idea of just dumping a bunch of food on the kitchen floor and see what happens, but I don't think that is a very good idea.

Pearl might not know when to stop eating and people would probably accuse me of neglect and abuse.

So, I think it's pretty important that Pearl gets fed daily, gets some love and some nurturing daily.

Are you feeding your business daily?

And by your business, I mean your database contact management system aka aka "databank".It seems silly to picture me dumping a bunch of food on the floor for Pearl, doesn't it?

It is also pretty silly that many salespeople and business owners treat their business the same way.

You don't consistently, daily, feed your database, so you don't have a consistent flow of leads, appointments and sales coming in.

You can't just feed your database once in awhile.

You can't starve your database and then take it to a buffet for an "All-You- Can-Eat."

You have to feed your database consistently, daily.

Are you nurturing your database?

Just like Pearl needs attention, affection and nurturing, so does your database.

I can't just take Pearl for a walk twice a year. I can't ignore her for 360 days of the year and still expect her to be a well behaved, adjusted, friendly dog.

How often are you giving attention to your database? How often are you in communication with them? How are you nurturing your relationships with those people in your database?

  • Stay Productive
  • Keep Focused
  • Be Consistent
